That’s because this part is super non-intuitive, ha! You can also try out the ‘fill background’ feature as it sometimes does the trick in a nice and easy way… Option 2 – Change the Colour from Colour A to B With the “Fill Background” Filter Don't panic at the disfiguration of the icon Simply deselect the part that is the sun and use Ctrl+Kto recombine the rest of it. If you want a different colour, change it there and you shoud have success. Firstly, open that single icon (within the SVG folder in the zip you attached, it's called '8.svg'). Now you should see a ‘white’ colour-picker-thing where the checkboard was. Go back to the text and, starting in the middle, click + drag half way down the text to the bottom. At the top left of the screen, next to New, make sure that the Create Linear Gradient option is selected. Then click on Create and edit gradients tool on the left side panel. change ffffff00 (which is ‘white plus full transparency) to ffffffff (which is ‘white plus zero transparency’) Select the bottom text, in our case the black text.Make sure the triangle is under the circle Select both shapes Click Path > Difference Remove the fill Apply a thick black stroke, adjust the stroke width as desired Click Path > Stroke to Path - if you wish to. If you still can't change it, we might need to look at the SVG file. Inkscape ’s drawing and painting tools allow you to create the effect of depth with drop shadow and color gradient capabilities. ![]() Or change the value in the spinbox to 255. ![]() Slide that from the far left side to the far right side. Open the same dialog again and look for a bar labelled 'A'. So in other words, it's still transparent. If it looks like a checkerboard, your background is set to ‘fully transparent’ and you’ll be exporting a checkerboard PNG file when you export. It sounds like you might have changed the color, but not the alpha value.
